Edge of Perception
Edge of Perception by Enrico Embroli, November 28 – December 19
For the very first time, Enrico Embroli presents his Edge of Perception series in Florence.
With his exploration of the boundaries of perception, Embroli investigates the tension between the two-dimensionality of the image and the three-dimensionality of the gaze.
In his shaped canvases and aluminum plates, color and shade generate the illusion of depth, deceiving the eye.
We highlight the dialogue with the great pioneers of perceptual art, from Vasarely to Bridget Riley, by projecting in one of the exhibition rooms the video of the historic show The Responsive Eye (MoMA, 1965), filmed by a young Brian De Palma—a rare document that marked the consecration of Op Art, influencing fashion, design, and pop culture.
